Use of herbs in kidney stone is well practiced in traditional medicine. Present study was designed to investigate antiurolithic activity of hydroalcoholic extract of whole herb of Digera muricata on experimental model of urolithiasis. Urolithasis was induced by administration of ethylene glycol (0.75%). It was observed that in selected animal model urolithiasis developed significantly. At 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg and 400mg/kg extract significantly decreased level of stone forming agents, oxalate, calcium and phosphate in kidney as well as urine. Level of BUN, uric acid and creatinine was also found to significantly less as compared to control group. Thus from present study it can be concluded that hydroalcoholic extract of Digera muricata possess significant antiurolithic activity at selected doses.
